About Me
Joanna Tilley is a tried and tested woman. She has been learning the craft of comedy writing and performing over the last decade, as well as working as a journalist.

She is currently developing sitcoms Searching for Sam and Gigolo FC with production companies, alongside writing partner Krysia Pepper.

Joanna has written comedy for BBC Radio Scotland, Greeting Card companies, Release The Clowns podcast and is part of a sketch group that has performed at four Camden Fringe festivals. In 2021, she performed a 21-night run of her Edinburgh Fringe show 'I am not Phoebe Waller-Bridge" to sell-out crowds. Joanna is also a consultant for the largest community of independent comedy creators, The Comedy Crowd, and collaborates with the British Comedy Guide.

She has made competition shortlists for the BBC, Final Draft Big Break 2023, The David Nobbs Memorial Trust, The Female Pilot Club, Shortcom and The Script Lab TSL Screenplay contest.

As a journalist, she has written for the BBC, the Evening Standard, Al Jazeera English, Sky Sports News, The Big Issue and TNT magazine. She recently worked as a reporter for TV trade publication Broadcast where she expanded her contacts with producers and commissioners, and found out what they are looking for in their scripts and projects.

Joanna understands the long and often lonely development process writers have to go through. She gets it! This is why she would like to work with writers to help them create authentic and well-rounded female characters. If writers are falling into any tired, worn cliches, she will not be afraid to call you out! (but in a nice way)
